Hi👋 I'm Mohamed Sobhy!

I'm working on foundational research in LLMs, Generative Video Models, and World Models @ Upsurge Labs. Previously I worked as a research fellow @ ETH Zurich, and a research assistant @ HKUST department of marketing.

About me

My CS teacher introduced me to Competitive Programming in my first week of high school, since then I obsessed over it for 5 years. I ranked 3rd in the national olympiad in informatics in 2020 and 2021, from a pool of +10,000 participants.

During college (BEng in Computer Science at HKUST), I started exploring entrepreneurial ideas, especially after the GPT API came public. In a span of few months, I taught myself web development with a modern tech stack and started bringing my ideas to life (feel free to check my projects).

I am working on 2 main series:
Annotated Papers: my notes from reading interesting papers, spanning LLMs, Diffusion Models, Software Engineering, and other disciplines.

Breaking Things: rebuilding popular projects (open-source projects, research demos, ...) and understanding how they were created. (work in progress)
